God the Father, the "Yahweh Rapha," tells Moses that He is "the Lord that Healeth thee."
The prophet Isaiah, well before Christ was born, states that a Messiah will come who will “bind up the brokenhearted...proclaim liberty to the captives…open the prison to them that are bound…comfort all that mourn…”
Jesus quotes Isaiah, stating that He has been anointed to “heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind…” He further states (4:21), “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
Jesus commands his disciples to “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely have ye received, freely give.”
Jesus tells his disciples about the people who will become Christians: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name they shall cast out devils…they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
“Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him…and the prayer of faith shall save the sick…”
